Our Portland Story Summer Expo : In Place Saturday, August 10 |  1pm-3pm Museum of Contemporary Craft 724 NW Davis St  Portland, OR 97209 FREE with museum admission ($4) On Saturday August 10th, Our Portland Story and the Museum of Contemporary Craft invite school-age kids and adults with a creative spirit to imagine and craft their perfect place. The place could be a fort, playhouse, park, treehouse, hobbit hole, outer space planet or any structure designed for escape, play or comfort. Create this place – in diorama form – using provided recycled objects (from S.C.R.A.P.) and arts and crafts materials. Announcing Our Portland Story Summer Exposition with Museum of Contemporary Craft

The Museum of Contemporary Craft and Our Portland Story announce an exhibit and event series in celebration of community storytelling! The exposition kicks off with the exhibit, “Cabinet of Curiosity” on view July 23rd – September 7th. “Cabinet” will feature wild, weird and familiar objects pulled straight from the pages of Our Portland Story Volumes 1 &2. Follow up events include everything from an improv show based off Our Portland Story narratives to an investigation of stories associated with place. With all events, we hope to use the power of story to see our city through another’s eyes. Our Portland Story to represent at TEDx Concordia University Event

I was honored to have been approached by Concordia University in Portland to speak about Our Portland Story at the upcoming TEDx Concordia Portland event. TEDx is an independently organized TED event, and is officially set for May 14, 2011. The event theme is “think.inspire.go”, highlighting the innovative thinking that makes Portland unique. The event will showcase 18-20 other inspiring speakers of notable status within their respective fields, including sustainability, food cart culture, alternative models of education, voluntary simplicity, peace activism and much more. First Thursday Art Opening + Reading Event Wrap-up

This past Thursday, November 4th, Our Portland Story celebrated its second event, an art opening and reading at Backspace – 115 Northwest 5th Avenue. The gallery curator at that venue chose 17 pages from the book to display on the wall for the month of November. The show opened as part of the First Thursday Art Walk, and featured readings from the book by authors: Chris Kruell, Steve Snell, Amber Keyser, Miriam Feder, Ali McCart, Merrick Monroe, Molly Wolverton, Gerry Blakney on behalf of Vincent Green, and Alex Rauch. Art Opening and Readings at Backspace this Thursday, November 4th

We are happy to announce our second party, an art show and reading event at Backspace (115 NW 5th Ave Portland, OR 97209). The fine folks there have graciously offered their gallery space for the month of November. The curator for the gallery has chosen 17 pages from the book that have been enlarged, printed, framed and will be displayed in the gallery. If you designed or wrote a page that was chosen, I will be reaching out to you separately. The art show opens as part of a First Thursday evening party on November 4th.
